Donation Acknowledgment Policy for The Black Girl Advocate: (scroll to bottom)

Purpose:

The purpose of this Donation Acknowledgment Policy is to establish guidelines for acknowledging donations received by The Black Girl Advocate in a timely, respectful, and consistent manner. This policy ensures that all donors are recognized for their generosity and that their contributions are documented according to legal and ethical standards.

Scope:

This policy applies to all types of donations received by The Black Girl Advocate, including monetary gifts, in-kind contributions, securities, and other forms of support.

Acknowledgment Timing:

All donations will be acknowledged within 7 business days of receipt. This allows for proper recording and appreciation of the gift.

Form of Acknowledgment:

Donations will be acknowledged through one or more of the following methods, depending on the donor's preference and the nature of the donation: Email Postal mail Phone call Public acknowledgment on our website or in publications, with donor consent of donations over $100,000

Tax Receipts:

For monetary donations, a tax receipt will be provided for all gifts over $25, or for lower amounts upon request. The receipt will include the necessary details for tax purposes, including the date of the donation, the amount (if cash), a description (if non-cash), and a statement that no goods or services were provided in exchange for the donation, if applicable.

Anonymity:

Donors who wish to remain anonymous will have their wishes respected. Their donation will be acknowledged privately, and their identity will not be disclosed in any public manner.

In-Kind Donations:

In-kind donations will be acknowledged with a description of the contributed goods or services. While a value will not be assigned by The Black Girl Advocate, the acknowledgment will provide sufficient detail for the donor to establish a value for tax purposes.

Donor Wall and Publications:

For significant contributions, donors may be recognized on a donor wall or in publications. The criteria for inclusion and the level of recognition will be clearly communicated to potential donors, respecting any wishes for anonymity.

Compliance and Confidentiality:

All donation acknowledgments will comply with current IRS guidelines and any other applicable laws and regulations. Donor information will be kept confidential and secure, used only for the purposes of The Black Girl Advocate and not disclosed to third parties without consent.

Revision and Amendments:

This policy may be revised or amended as necessary to ensure its effectiveness and compliance with legal standards. Any changes will be communicated to our donors and stakeholders in a timely manner.
